Change oil after the first 2 operating hours and after

every 25 hours thereafter. Since warm oil drains betĆ

ter and carries more contaminants than cold, run enĆ

gine for several minutes or so before draining oil.

Stop engine and pull wire off spark plug (Fig. 14).

 

Lift discharge door and remove grass bag. Drain

gasoline from fuel tank: refer to Draining Gasoline,

page 11.

Tip mower on its left side. Remove drain plug from

underside of mower using a 3/8" socket extension

with a wrench for turning (Fig. 17). Place a drain pan

under mower.

Lower mower allowing oil to drain into pan.

After draining, clean drain plug and reinstall it.

Wipe up any spilled oil. Fill engine with fresh oil: refer

to Fill Crankcase With Oil, page 7.

Throttle control adjustment may be required if engine

does not start or stop. Whenever a new throttle conĆ

trol cable is installed, the throttle must be adjusted.

Stop engine and pull wire off spark plug (Fig. 18).

 

Remove (2) screws from air cleaner cover and lift

off cover (Fig. 18).

Move throttle control forward to FAST 

position (Fig. 5).

Loosen cable clamp screw until throttle cable

slides (Fig. 19).

Move throttle cable until throttle lever touches stop

(Fig. 19).

Pull throttle cable slightly to remove any slack and

tighten cable clamp screw to lock adjustment in

place.

Reinstall engine cover with (2) screws.

If mower does not self-propel or has a tendency to

creep forward when drive is not engaged, an adjustĆ

ment to the wheel traction control cable is necessary.

Stop the engine.

 

Loosen nut on cable support (Fig. 20).
