Using 831C Sound Recording
T
his module demonstrates the features and settings of the 831C
sound recording firmware option 831C-SR. Recording event sounds is
often used to help identify the source of loud noise.
This feature allows you to trigger a recording and add a sound type
label to the resulting measurement data in 3 ways: by creating a
manual sound recording, by setting automated event-triggered
recording, and by using measurement history event recording.

Markers help you label and initiate a recording of the sound being
measured. You can also use markers to simply mark the sound
occurrence with a label that’s saved in the measurement’s Time
History.

• Verify that 831C-SR firmware is installed and enabled on your

Step 1
On the meter, go to
Tools
Setup Manager

Step 2
Highlight the setup file you want to enable for Sound Recording

press the top-left softkey (

Markers
tab.
