DIMM Population Guidelines
Please do follow the memory module installation instructions to install the DIMMs, and make sure
Each CPU requires
at least 1
memory module to boot and run from.
If you do not plan to fill up all the sockets with 16 memory modules, always start with the
blue
ones
for optimal performance.
Try to split the DIMMs evenly across the CPUs.
Using memory modules of the same capacity, speed and from the same manufacturer are highly
recommended. However, with mixed module speeds, the overall speed will be that of the slowest
installed memory module.
Memory Module Installation Instructions
Please follow the steps below to install the DIMM memory modules.
1.
Power off the system.
2.
Pull open the DIMM slot latches.
3.
Align the notch of the module with the socket key in the slot and carefully insert the card into the slot.
4.
Push the module down into the slot until it is firmly seated. Press vertically on both corners of the card
until it clicks into place.
