WARNING
!
To avoid serious injury or death:
•
Hydraulic fluid under high pressure will penetrate the skin
or eyes causing a serious injury. Wear protective gloves and
safety glasses or goggles when working with hydraulic
systems. Use a piece of cardboard or wood rather than
hands when searching for leaks. If an accident occurs, seek
immediate emergency medical care or gangrene may result.
•
Shut power machine down and release all hydraulic
pressure to the equipment before connecting or
disconnecting hydraulic hoses to or from the power
•
Make sure hydraulic hoses are properly routed without
twists to prevent becoming stretched, pinched, or kinked. A
damaged hydraulic hose can burst and leak hydraulic fluid.
•
Hydraulic fluid can become hot as it flows through
components such as hydraulic couplers, hoses, lines,
fittings, motors, etc. Wear gloves when working with
hydraulic components including while connecting and
disconnecting couplers. It is best to allow hydraulic
components to cool before touching them.
Refer to Figure 2-1 on page 16:
1. Relieve all hydraulic pressure to the auxiliary lines.
2. Route hoses (#10) to the loader’s outlets (#11 & #12).
3. Clean quick release couplers (#8 & #9) and the
loader’s duplex outlets (#11 & #12). Connect quick
release couplers to the duplex outlets. Make sure
they are fully engaged. If not, check the following:
•
Couplers are same size and type.
•
Auxiliary hydraulic pressure to the duplex outlets
has been released.
4. Position hydraulic hoses (#10) in a location where
they will not become stretched, kinked, or pinched. If
needed, zip tie the hoses to protect them from
possible damage.
5. Raise loader arms and tilt hitch plate until the auger
is slightly off the ground while hanging vertically.
6. Set tractor speed at an idle, engage auger hydraulics
to view auger rotation. The auger should rotate
clockwise for digging when looking down from above.
IMPORTANT:
Hose routing is the responsibility of
the owner/operator. Pinched and/or stretched hoses
are not covered under the warranty.
IMPORTANT:
Make sure coupler fittings on the
hydraulic hoses and power machine are clean
before connecting them together.
NOTE:
If fittings (#8 & #9) do not match your
tractor’s 3rd function valve fittings (#11 & #12), then
switch-out fittings (#8 & #9) to match.
7.
Shut tractor down according to
8. If auger rotated counterclockwise, switch rotation at
the joy stick by pushing in on the opposite button.
Check Equipment Clearances
Before putting the Post Hole Digger into service, check
clearances throughout the full range of motion.
1. Check hitch hook-up to make sure the auger hitch
plate is fully secured to the loader hitch plate. Refer
to step 9 on page 16 for detailed instructions.
2. Start tractor and raise the attachment until the auger
is slightly off the ground.
3. If necessary, have someone stand nearby that can
motion for the operator to stop if a problem develops
while completing step 4 below.
4. Fully extend and retract the hydraulic tilt cylinder on
the end of the loader arms while watching for
interference between the tractor/loader and
attachment. Stop movement if attachment is about to
make contact with the tractor or loader.
5. Shut tractor down before dismounting to make
6. Make adjustments as follows:
•
If hydraulic couplers (#11 & #12) are interfering,
rotate/move 3rd function coupler bracket (#13) to a
position where no interference occurs.
•
Resolve all other discovered interferences.
7.
Raise loader arms fully up and repeat steps 4 to 6
above.
8. Make sure all interference have been resolved before
operating the unit in the field.
Unhook Post Hole Digger
Refer to Figure 2-1 on page 16:
on page 27 when parking
the Post Hole Digger for long periods.
2. Park tractor and Post Hole Digger on a flat, level,
solid surface. Ensure there is plenty of backup room
to lower the loader arms while backing-up to lay
down the auger.
3. Back-up while lowering the loader arms to lay the
auger onto the ground.
4. Stop backing-up once the auger is laying on the
ground. Continue to lower the loader arms until they
are fully down.
5. Shut tractor down according to
6. Disconnect hydraulic couplers (#8 & #9) from the
duplex outlet.
7.
Store hoses and couplers on the Post Hole Digger.
Make sure couplers (#8 & #9) are out of the dirt.
