2.
Raise and block mower up to support drive wheels
off the floor.
(Left Hydraulic Pump Removed for Clarity)
Steering Control Linkage
Figure 3-2
Refer to Figure 3-2:
3.
Start engine and then move park brake to (OFF).
Observe which way the wheels are rotating. Skip to
step 6 if wheels do not rotate.
4.
If a wheel is rotating forward:
a. Locate steering linkage rod (1R) or (1L) that is
located on the same side as the rotating wheel
and loosen jam nuts (#2) on that rod.
b. Rotate steering linkage rod to lengthen it until the
wheel stops rotating.
c. Tighten jam nuts at both ends of the linkage rod
once the wheel stops rotating.
5.
If a wheel is rotating in reverse:
a. Locate steering linkage rod (1R) or (1L) that is
located on the same side as the rotating wheel
and loosen jam nuts (#2) on that rod.
b. Rotate steering linkage rod to shorten it until the
wheel stops rotating.
c. Tighten jam nuts at both ends of the linkage rod
once the wheel stops rotating.
6.
While seated on the mower, test steering linkage by
moving control levers in and then forward and
backward before returning to neutral. If a wheel
rotates while in neutral, move control levers out and
repeat steps 4 & 5.
7.
The unit is ready for operation if the wheels do not
rotate while in neutral.
8.
Move control levers out and turn ignition switch off.
9.
Remove support blocks and safely lower mower
wheels to the floor.

Control Lever Adjustable Stops
The control lever stops are designed to do two things:
•
First, and most important, they must be adjusted to
protect the pumps from bottoming out internally.
•
Second, the stops can be adjusted to drive straight
when control levers are against the stops.
Control Lever Stops
Figure 3-3
Adjust Stops to Protect Pumps
Refer to Figure 3-3:
This adjustment should be made first and must be made
with mower engine NOT RUNNING. Check one side at a
time to make sure each control lever is against the
adjustable stop before the pump bottoms out internally.
1.
Gently and slowly move one of the control levers
forward and feel if there is some resistance on the
lever before it comes against the stop. If you sense
the pump linkage rod is bottoming-out (stopping
forward motion before coming against the stop):
a. Loosen the jam nut on the adjustable stop.
b. Turn stop (set screw) inward to stop control lever
slightly before the pump bottoms-out.
c. When adjustment is correct, lock adjustable stop
in place by re-tightening the jam nut.
2.
Do this for both control levers.
Adjust Stops to Drive Straight
Refer to Figure 3-3:
1.
Determine which drive wheel is rotating too fast
when both control levers are against the stops.
2.
Stop mower and loosen the jam nut on the side which
is rotating too fast. Turn stop (set screw) inward to
stop control lever sooner.
3.
Retighten jam nut and test again.
4.
Repeat this procedure until unit drives straight.

NOTE: Variables such as oil temperature, pump
efficiency, motor efficiency, tire pressure, etc., may
effect the consistency to drive straight while pressing
the control levers against the stops.
