Maintenance

Proper service and adjustment are key to the long life of
any implement. With careful systematic inspection you
can avoid many costly repairs and downtime.

Torque all nuts to the torque value listed on page 32 after
the first initial 5 hours of field operation.

DANGER

!

To avoid serious injury or death:
Always secure equipment with solid, non-concrete supports

before working under it. Never go under equipment supported

by concrete blocks or hydraulics. Concrete can break,

hydraulic lines can burst, and/or hydraulic controls can be

actuated even when power to hydraulics is off.

WARNING

!

To avoid serious injury or death:

Allow only persons to perform maintenance on this

implement who have been properly trained in its safe

operation.

Perform scheduled maintenance. Check for loose

hardware, missing parts, broken parts, structural cracks,

and excessive wear. Make repairs before putting implement

back into service. Serious breakdowns can result in injury

or death.

Do not alter implement or replace parts on the implement

with other brands. Other brands may not fit properly or

meet OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)

specifications. They can weaken the integrity and impair the

safety, function, performance, and life of the implement.

Replace parts only with genuine OEM parts.

Disc Gang Axle Nut Location

Figure 5-1

IMPORTANT:

Refer to Figure 5-1. Torque disc gang

axle nuts to 250 ft. lbs. after the first initial 5 hours of
operation. Failure to tighten the axle nuts may result
in the nut becoming loose or lost resulting in
possible damage to the axle and/or disc gang.

Daily Operational Checks

1.

Clean unit of dirt and trash to minimize rusting and
wear.

2. Visually inspect all nuts for tightness. Torque loose

nuts to the torque value listed on page 32.

3. Inspect all bearings for wear. Replace any worn out

bearings.

4. Replace any decals that are worn or damaged.

5. Prior to operation, thoroughly lubricate the spin

spreader.

6. Check for proper operation of the spin spreader

mechanisms by running the machine at no-load for a
few minutes.

7.

Adjust the distributing assembly for spreading the
quantity desired and recheck adjustment accuracy.

8. All spreader parts must be cleaned properly after

every use to extend its life and efficiency. See

“Clean

the Spin Spreader”

on page 25.

Clean the Spin Spreader

WARNING

!

To avoid serious injury or death:

Wear eye protection to prevent getting chemicals and/or

dirt in the eyes while cleaning the implement.

Wear proper protective clothing when servicing or

lubricating the spin seeder. Refer to chemical

manufacturers’ labels for specific clothing requirements.

Fertilizer is extremely corrosive and all remaining
particles include dust particles should be removed from
the spreader soon after application.

1.

Remove all product left in the holding tank.

2. Disconnect and store the spin controller in a dry

location.

3.

DO NOT wash feedgate with water.

 Remove the

two screws from the bottom of the gate and slide the
gate forward until it drops off the unit. Be careful not
to lose the screws.

4. Use a soft bristle brush to clean the felt and remove

any dust from around the gear or on the felt.

5. Completely wash the rest of the spin spreader with

water and dry thoroughly.

6. Add a light coat of oil on all metal parts and motor to

help prevent rusting and corrosion.

7.

Reinstall the feedgate.

8. Store spin spreader and electrical controls in a

location that is sheltered from moisture.

IMPORTANT:

Remove spin controller and discharge

gate before washing the spin spreader.
