Purge Hydraulic System

Refer to Figure 1-3:

1. With bucket raised off the ground about 12" (30 cm), 

cycle the bucket hydraulic cylinders (#4) several 

times from fully extended to fully retracted.

2. If cylinders operate unevenly after cycling them 

several times, then purge the system as follows:
a. Fully retract hydraulic cylinders (#4).
b. Shut tractor down before dismounting. Refer to 

“Tractor Shutdown Procedure” 

on page 9.

c. Loosen elbow fittings (#3B) and slowly extend 

hydraulic cylinders (#4) to purge system of air.

d. Shut tractor down before dismounting. Refer to 

“Tractor Shutdown Procedure” 

on page 9.

e. Tighten fittings (#3B) after all trapped air has been 

removed.

f. Fully extend hydraulic cylinders (#4).
g. Shut tractor down before dismounting. Refer to 

“Tractor Shutdown Procedure” 

on page 9.

h. Loosen elbow fittings (#3A) and slowly retract 

hydraulic cylinders to purge system of air.

i. Shut tractor down before dismounting. Refer to 

“Tractor Shutdown Procedure” 

on page 9.

j. Tighten fittings (#3A) after all trapped air has been 

removed.

IMPORTANT: 

Purge hydraulic cylinders and/or 

hoses of air before putting the equipment into 

service. Not purging the system can cause uneven 

cylinder movement and positioning.
