Driveline Installation

WARNING
To prevent serious injury or death:
The main driveline is a constant velocity type. Pull-collar
and bolted couplers are used to secure the driveline to
the tractor and implement gearbox, respectively.
Refer to Figure 1-5:
1.
If wings are not lowered, start tractor and lower both
wings fully down.
2.
Put tractor in park or set park brake, turn off engine,
and remove switch key before dismounting tractor.
3.
Remove hex whiz nuts (#4A) and shipping
bracket (#2). Discard shipping bracket.
4.
Slide driveline (#5) off end of shipping bracket (#1).
Set driveline aside for attaching to splitter box later.
5.
Reattach hex whiz nuts (#4A) to carriage bolts (#3)
and tighten them to the correct torque.
6.
Remove hex whiz nuts (#4B) and shipping
bracket (#1). Discard shipping bracket.
7.
Reattach hex whiz nuts (#4B) to carriage bolts (#3)
and tighten them to the correct torque.

IMPORTANT:
The driveline must be lubricated
before putting it into service. Refer to Lubrication
Points on page 39.
NOTE:
Wings must be lowered before removing the
driveline from its shipping location.

Refer to Figure 1-6:
8.
Unsnap bell door (#2) from each side of bell housing
and rotate down.
9.
Remove and discard rubber shaft protector (#1) from
splitter gearbox input shaft.
10. Remove lock nuts (#3) and bolts (#4) from bolted
coupler end of driveline (#5).
11. Attach bolted coupler end of driveline (#5) to splitter
gearbox input shaft with removed 5/8"-11 x 2 3/4"
GR8 hex head bolts (#4) and lock nuts (#3). Tighten
lock nuts to the correct torque.
12. Collapse driveline (#5) by pushing tractor end of
driveline toward the splitter gearbox.
13. Rest driveline (#5) on driveline support saddle (#6).
14. Rotate bell door (#2) on each side of bell housing up
and snap into place.
