position and the aircraft slowed to 100 KTS. At the FAF (final
approach fix), full flaps should be applied and the aircraft slowed to 90
KIAS. This technique will typically require a power setting in excess
of 1900 RPM. Power settings resulting in approximately 1800-1850
RPM should be avoided as this propeller speed may intermodulate with
the glideslope reception resulting in continuous minor control stick
motion during coupled approaches and continuous minor glideslope
deviation indications during coupled and non-coupled, or hand-flown,
ILS approaches.
APPROACH WITH SPEEDBRAKES DEPLOYED
Fly a high base leg and final approach. Extend wing flaps as desired
and depress the SPEED BRAKES switch. Maintain an 85-90 KIAS
approach speed by establishing a moderately steep, nose-down attitude.

Rotate the aircraft more rapidly than usual to perform a tail-low

IMPORTANT
IF THE LANDING RATE OF SINK IS
EXCESSIVE, RETRACT THE SPEEDBRAKES
AND ADD POWER AS REQUIRED TO
REDUCE THE RATE OF DESCENT.
SHORT FIELD LANDING
In a short field landing, the important issues are to land just past the
beginning of the runway at minimum speed. The initial approach
should be made at 85 to 90 KIAS and reduced to 80 KIAS when full
