GENERAL
This chapter covers the Serial Interface in Paragraph 4.1, and Serial
Interface Commands in Paragraph 4.2.
4.1
SERIAL INTERFACE
The Model 234 has a serial interface for communications with a host
computer. It is an unbalanced (single ended), non-terminated line used over
short distances (typically 10 feet or less). The Model 234 serial interface
complies with the electrical format of the RS-232C Interface Standard.

Serial Interface Connections
A standard 6 wire RJ-11 modular (telephone) jack is the serial interface
connector (see Figure 4-1). Lake Shore Model 2001 data type cables, which
maintain pin 1 polarity, simplify interconnection. Lake Shore offers the Model
2002 RJ-11 to DB-25 adapter and Model 2003 RJ-11 to DE-9 adapter for
connecting to the host computer. See Figure 4-2.
