Discadoo
TM
The Discadoo has a rigid dome and flat base with a mounting pad to accommodate slight variations in mounting surfaces. Thus, for proper
installation and best performance the antenna should be mounted on the highest flat surface of the vehicle.
Caution: For proper performance the mounting area must be free of metal obstructions within 4” above or beside the antenna. An adequate metal
ground plane must also be provided by the vehicle (approx. 8” circumference) under the Discadoo.
Mounting Instructions:
To determine if a location is flat, lay a ruler or other straight edge across the surface. There should
be little or no gap between the straight edge and the surface over a span of 4 inches. The mounting
surface must be cleaned thoroughly prior to application.
Pigtail Mount Bottom Exit:
We have provided a pigtail length of very low loss, small
diameter coax. This allows the coax to make a sharp turn for mounting under headliners without
putting pressure on the antenna’s adhesive mounting. It also permits the installer to run the shortest
required length of low-loss coax from the pigtail to the transmitter. Maintaining short runs of low-loss
cable are very important at high frequencies. When you have decided on a mounting location, mark
the center of the location and drill a 5/8” diameter hole. Clean the surface around the hole with a
detergent cleaner and follow with a solvent wipe. Let surface dry thoroughly before continuing. Insert
the cable and the connector through the hole. Remove the backing material from the foam base of
the antenna and press the antenna firmly into place.
