For normal use after having installed your LaCie SAFE Mobile Hard Drive,
plug in the USB cable. The top LED will blink green one time. Wait for the
top LED to become red, then swipe your finger over the sensor until the
LED turns orange. Once you are recognized as authorized, the LED will
turn green and the drive will mount on your desktop.
To swipe your finger correctly:

Make sure that the front of
the drive is facing you, and
wait for the top LED to
become red.
LaCie drives are pre-formatted as FAT 32 volumes and can be used across multiple platforms (Windows
2000/ Windows XP, Mac OS 10.2.x or higher). For optimum performance, the drive can easily be re-
formatted in NTFS for Windows 2000 / Windows XP users or HFS+ for Mac users. FAT 32 limitations:
file size cannot exceed 4GB, and Mac special characters cannot be used in file names. For more
information about formatting, please refer to the User’s Manual.
