6. If there is access from under the subfloor, then install the PVC, ABS or copper drain pipe
long enough to extend below the subfloor for easy connection to the waste system pipes.
Always follow instructions from the drain manufacturer.
7. Finish installing the drain following the drain manufacturer’s instructions.
8. Apply consistent thin layer of tile mortar to prevent any void spaces on the subfloor and carefully
set the shower pan into the shower bed and the drain housing. Verify the shower pan is leveled
front to back and side to side.
9. Let the tile mortar cure before continuing installation.
10. Make sure that the stud walls are straight and level for proper drainage.
11. Install the shower cement backerboard and waterproofing in accordance with the local
plumbing code. We recommend liquid waterproofing like RedGard or similar to create seamless
waterproof barrier and prevent common cracks from occurring in tile, stone and grout.
12. Seal and waterproof joint between cement backerboard and the shower pan with 100% silicone.
13. Finish installing the drain strainer.
14. Tile the rest of the shower and seal the joint between the wall tile and shower pan with 100%
silicone.
