8.1.4 Fitting the desiccant bed assembly
See drawing R1875
1.
Fit the desiccant bed assembly in the MDFD dryer and tighten screws (33) and (34).
2.
Fit hoses (31) and (32) and the clip.
3.
Connect the cables from the control in terminal block (30) as shown in the diagram.
4.
Check that the heating elements are correctly connected.
5.
Fit the top and side plates.
6.
Check the condition of the cartridge filters before start-up.
8.2 Replacement of balls in the valve unit
1.
Remove the desiccant bed assembly, as described in 8.1.1.
2.
The change motor is activated by connecting 24 V to the plug (157) so that the tension rods
are turned to the neutral position (least possible tension on the spring).

3.
Remove the tension rod (133) that runs between the two valve units (20) and (21). To remove
the tension rod dismount the locking rings (134) on the toggle joints (135). Likewise, remove
the short tension rod (178) between the change motor and the upper valve unit. Avoid
loosening the locking-nuts so that the length of the tension rods remains unchanged.
If the tension rod (133) needs to be adjusted, see section 8.3.3
4.
If the tension rod (178) needs to be adjusted this is done so that the centre spacing between
the toggle joints is 233 ± 1mm.
Remove the valve covers (173).
5.
Remove the split pins (174) after which the balls (175) (176) and the discs (177) can be
removed.
The balls have different characteristics and are therefore coloured differently to help ensure
correct fitting.
