Solar Hybrid Technology
Power Supply
The clock is dual powered: battery and solar energy . In the daytime the clock is powered by
solar energy (it is recommended that service condition is more than 200Lux- Normal indoor
light). At nighttime the clock is powered by battery.
Please Note:
The display may appear
dimmer than normal while on battery power. This is a power saving feature and is an
expected condition.
Battery Insertion / Replacement
•
Begin by opening the battery compartment cover on the back of the clock and place 1 AA
alkaline battery (not included) into the compartment as indicated by polarity (+, -).
CAUTION: Be sure to insert the battery in the correct position (+, -) to prevent problems.
When the battery is changed, the clock will be in set up mode searching for the atomic signal.
Note:
Each time the batteries are removed and/or replaced, the clock will perform a reset,
regardless of the amount of light present. Changing the battery in a full light condition will
not prevent the reset.
Atomic Signal Reception
•
IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE: the clock will not operate or set for the first four minutes
after inserting the battery
. During this time the clock will search for the Time Signal from
Fort Collins, Colorado and the setting functions will not operate. This is normal and not a
defect in your clock.
•
While the clock is searching for the Atomic Signal the WAVE button can be pressed to stop the
search for the time signal.
•
If you are in a location where it is difficult to receive the signal, the clock can be set manually
and then it will automatically update to the correct Atomic time when it receives the signal.
Normally, signal reception is best at night. If the signal is not received in the first f our minutes,
it is recommended you set the time manually and wait for the clock to catch the signal at night.
•
Once the time is set (either automatically or manually), the clock will seek out the radio signal
daily to keep its accuracy.
•
Please Note: Scrolling tower means the clock is searching for the WWVB signal. A solid
tower means the clock DID NOT receive the signal. A solid tower with WAVE OK
means
the
clock
received
the
signal
in
the
last
24
hours
.
Daylight Saving Time
•
If you live in an area that does observe DST, place the DST switch into the ON position. The
Letters DST will appear on the display next to the Atomic Signal ICON confirming you are in
the Daylight Saving Time mode. The clock will now adjust automatically each spring and fall
to correct for the 1-hour time change.
•
If you live in an area that DOES NOT observe Daylight Saving Time (DST), slide the DST
switch on the back of the clock to the OFF position to deactivate the DST function.
