5.3 Modes of Operation
The primary interface for Monitor and Control of the Modem is an HCI GUI running on a
PC that is attached via Ethernet to the Modem
‟s CDU port. Modem operation is
organized into four (4) modes of operation: (See Figure 5-6)
MIL-STD-188-165A Waveform
– In this mode the Modem is configured as an
SCPC Modem conforming to MIL-STD-188-165A. See section 10 for more
detailed operation.
NCW without SVOW
– This is the most common mode of operation and places
the Modem in the NCW operation mode. To configure the Modem in this mode
terminal parameters are entered (See Section 6) and Network Member
Parameters are configured (See Section 9). If the Modem is designated as a
Network Controller then Network Parameters are also configured. (See Section
8)
NCW with SVOW
– In this mode of operation a 16 kbps SVOW data stream from
J3 is dedicated one of the available TX channels and one of the RX channels.
Maintenance
– The Modem must be in this mode to save and restore a
configuration file, to run the Configuration Wizard, and to download and rollover
new software.
