5.2.5.8 Bearing Data
The bearing data is shown in the lower right corner of the attitude display area above the area of the
optional heading display, as shown in Figure 5-13. The bearing data is shown as three medium size digits
with leading zeros.
5.2.6 Heading Data
The heading data is displayed on a horizontal sliding tape at the bottom of the display as shown in Figure
5-15 and Figure 5-16. The heading tape has a fixed white, vertical index line drawn at its center. A “DG”
descriptor is displayed in the free heading mode in white characters above the index line. For roll angles
near 180
°
, the “DG” descriptor is removed when the roll pointer requires that display area occupied by
the descriptor. When the Menu Mode is active, the heading tape is removed from the display.
Figure 5-15: Heading Tape, VOR Mode
The heading tape is drawn such that its background color is a lighter shade of the moving attitude fill area,
which extends behind the heading area.
There are white tic marks on the heading tape at every 5 degrees of heading. The tic marks at the 10
degree points of the heading tape are twice as long as those at the 5 degree points, except where the
heading tape numbers exist.
