2.3.4 Installation Guidelines for MAG-3000 Magnetometer
Use the following information along with the MAG-3000 Installation Manual, publication number
TP-633 when installing a MAG-3000. The Installation Kits shown in Table 2-2 or Table 2-3 are optional.

NOTE: Installation Kit 504-1895-18 is used for MAG installations requiring a bulk head mount mating connector.
NOTE
All mounting hardware must be non-ferrous materials.
1.
It is recommended that the magnetometer be mounted directly to the aircraft frame in the fuselage in
a location free of magnetic disturbances.
The magnetometer should be located near the primary flux sensor (this will reduce heading
differences with the primary flight display).
The location of the Magnetometer should not be near potential magnetic interference (such as ferrous
metals, high current cables or luggage compartments) that will affect the accuracy of the system.
2.
The P1 connector must be at least 6 inches from the magnetometer shell and secured to limit
movement. Refer to the referenced magnetometer manual for routing examples.
3.
Refer to Figure 2-4 for an Interconnect Wiring Diagram.
4.
Post installation requires calibration of Magnetometer using JT-147A Calibration Test Set (P/N 570-
8552-01). Refer to Figure 1-2.
NOTE
Best results for calibration is when magnetometer is mounted within
±
5
°
in roll and
±
15
°
in pitch with respect to level flight.
