1 is a small electronic box that, if you need one it must be purchased by a STE user. An example of an
NT-1 is the Tone Commander NTIU-220TC. For more information about them, call 800-245-9780 or visit
their web site at: http://www.tonecommander.com. Other sources are also available.
A STE needs the NT-1 to operate on a U-interface; however, it needs no additional parts for the S/T-
interface.
If required, enter the information in
STEP 7: Determine where the ISDN Line will be physically terminated.
The service provider will install the line up to the point of connecting it to your facility. Once connected it
is usually your telecom department’s responsibility to run the wiring to the exact STE location. The STE is
a point-to-point ISDN device requiring an S/T (RJ-45) type connection. Point-to-point is defined as having
“one Terminal Equipment per ISDN line.” Make sure you write down all the information about your ISDN
service in
as it is required to program the STE during the installation phase.
2-5.1.2 ISDN Connector Pin-outs
The
ISDN PORT
, an RJ-45 connector, is located on the rear of the STE. An ISDN Network Cable is
provided to connect the STE to a wall jack. Make sure your wall jack, or a pre-connected wire that will
mate to the STE, is wired as shown in
