The main Secure Data Security Level menu (
) is accessed from the SECURE DATA ACL:

(maximum and minimum) for data communications. The default setting for both, SECDATA MAX SEC:
and SECDATA MIN SEC: is “NONE”.

The security level PROTECTED requires a Type 2 key. Therefore, the STE will
not go secure with any other terminal that does not have a Type 2 key, and which
has its maximum-security level set to PROTECTED. The setting PROTECTED is
lower than UNCLASSIFIED, which is encrypted with a Type 1 key.
