The STE checks the registry to see if User Card (20000) is already associated. Not being associated the
destination STE will start the association process. During the process, the STE recognizes that only a
“Carry Split A” resides on the originating User Card. The STE then prompts the TPA to insert the Carry
Card (serial 30000 bearing the “Carry Split B”).
As shown in
Figure 4-19B , Carry Card serial number 30000 is inserted in the destination STE to
complete the association of the User Card. The “Carry Split B” that was on the Carry Card has been
moved to the STE as “CIK Split B” under control of the TPA.
When the association process is completed, the secure capabilities of the User Card can now be
unlocked in both the original STE and destination STE as is shown in
Figure 4-20 .
NOTE
The User Card is associated with the originating STE by one CIK Split, and is
associated with the destination STE by a different CIK Split.
