Step 5 - Replace the ICM (All Kits)
Follow the steps below to replace the ICM.
1.
Disconnect and remove the current ICM, or the
CommBox-ACU and modem.
2.
Unpack and install the new ICM (KVH part no.
02-2204-02, see Figure 16) as described in the
TracPhone V7-HTS Installation Guide
(supplied in
the V7-HTS Welcome Kit).
3.
Be sure to provide a vessel heading input to the
new ICM from a NMEA talker, as explained in
the
TracPhone V7-HTS Installation Guide
. The V7-
HTS system
requires
a heading input. A two-
position terminal strip connector is supplied in
the kit for connecting the NMEA cable.
NOTE: The system does not accept messages that
conform to either the NMEA 2000 or NMEA 0183 HS
standards.
4.
To install the 10 MHz Reference in an “HTS
Ready” system (see Figure 18):
4a. Connect one end of the supplied pigtail
(KVH part no. 32-1115-03) to the J1 “Rx RF”
jack on the back of the ICM. Hand-tighten,
then tighten with a 7/16" torque wrench set
to 20 in.-lbs.
4b. Connect the other end of the supplied pigtail
to the “ICM RX1” connector on the 10 MHz
reference. Hand-tighten, then tighten with a
7/16" torque wrench set to 20 in.-lbs.
4c. Connect the antenna’s RX cable to the
“ANTENNA MRX” connector on the
10 MHz reference. Hand-tighten, then
tighten with a 7/16" torque wrench set to
20 in.-lbs.
4d. Secure the 10 MHz reference in place as
needed with two tie-wraps (KVH part no.
22-0055-08).
Important!
When updating an “
HTS Ready”
antenna
(equipped with an LNB-3), you must also install a
10 MHZ reference
(KVH part no. 02-2245, see
Figure 17) in-line with the antenna’s Rx cable.
