Maintenance
Proper servicing and adjustment are key to the long life of
any attachment. With careful inspection and routine
maintenance, you can avoid costly downtime and repair.
Check all bolts and pins after using the grapple for
several hours and on a regular basis thereafter to ensure
they are tight and secured.
Check hitch fit-up, hydraulic hoses, and fittings on a
regular basis to ensure trash or other objects have not
loosened hitch connection or damaged hydraulic hoses
and fittings.
Replace worn, damaged, or missing grapple parts only
with genuine Kubota parts. Replace illegible or missing
safety labels by obtaining new labels from your Kubota
dealer.

Section 3: Maintenance & Lubrication
Skid Steer/Tractor Maintenance
One of the most important things you can do to prevent
hydraulic system problems is to ensure your skid steer/
tractor reservoir remains free of dirt and contamination.
Use a clean cloth to wipe hose ends before attaching
them to your skid steer/tractor. Replace your skid steer/
tractor’s hydraulic filter element at the prescribed
intervals. These simple maintenances will go a long way
to prevent occurrence of control valve and hydraulic
cylinder problems.

Spear Removal & Assembly
Refer to Figure 3-1:
Check spears (#2) frequently for straightness, breakage,
and tightness. Tighten any spear that is loose. Replace
broken spears and spears that cannot be straightened.
1.
To remove a spear, unscrew eccentric hex nut (#1)
and remove spear (#2).
2.
Only apply multi-purpose grease around and along
the inside length of tapered hole in mounting
tube (#3). Doing this will aid in removal of spear.
3.
Insert spear (#2) into spear mounting tube (#3) with a
flat surface of the spear facing up.
4.
Secure spear with M20 x 1.5 eccentric hex nut (#1).
Tighten eccentric hex nut to 230 ft-lb.
Do not apply grease to chamfered surface of eccentric
nut (#1) or chamfered end of spear mounting tube (#3).
Apply grease all around full
length of tapered hole.
Spear
Spear Mounting Tube
Chamfer of Eccentric Nut (#1) must face spear
mounting tube (#3) for nut to tighten properly.
