– Alternatively: bore (Ø 6,3 mm [1/4“]) provided by the
customer
• Materials (optional)
– 2x M6 screws with washer for the mounting bracket
– Cable clamps or cable ties for fastening the signal line
4.1.2.2 Step by Step Installation
The steps necessary for mounting the measuring wheel sys-
tem are represented as a succession of pictures on the first
pages of this operation manual, see chapter Step-by-Step In-
stallation[
} 2].
The illustrations used for this purpose are examples intended
to describe the operating principle.
The measuring wheel system is supplied as described in the
data sheet, i. e. in a determined orientation of the encoder
and of the corresponding connection technology. If this ori-
entation is not suitable for the needs of the application, the
following can be adapted when mounting the device, see
chapter Changing the Fastening Possibilities [
} 24];
• The orientation of the encoder (mounting left or right of the
spring arm).
• The orientation of the connection technology (30° steps).
• Using measuring wheels with other surfaces.
Installation in the application:
a) Loosen the hexagon nut with serrated washer from the
spring arm (1[ } 2]).
b) Mount the spring arm fastening screw on the mounting
bracket / alternatively in the bore provided by the customer
(2[
} 2]).
c) Place the serrated washer and the hexagon nut on the
spring arm fastening screw and tighten the nut normally
with the fingers.
d) Pull the protective cap off (3[ } 2]).
e) Insert the hexagon wrench through the spring arm fasten-
ing screw (4[
}
2]).
f) Move the hexagon wrench towards the measuring wheel
to adjust the preload (4[ } 2]). Observe the
pressure force [ } 24] diagram.
g) Hold the hexagon wrench in the same position and tighten
the hexagon nut (5[ } 3]).
h) Remove the hexagon wrench.
i) Lift the measuring wheel to check the force exerted by the
spring arm. Consider the maximum spring travel for this
operation (5[
} 3]).
j) Push the protective cap back on the spring arm until it en-
gages (6[
}
3]).
NOTICE
Overhead mounting
The measuring wheel system can also be mounted with the
pressure force oriented upwards (AA[
} 5]).
