12.8 Installing the fork protector

–
Position the fork protector on the left fork leg. Mount and tighten screws


Guideline
Remaining screws, chassis M6 10 Nm (7.4 lbf ft)
–
Position the brake line, wiring harness, and clamp. Mount and tighten screws


Position the fork protector on the right fork leg. Mount and tighten screws  .

12.9 Removing the lower triple clamp (All EXC

F models)
Preparatory work
–
Remove the headlight mask with the headlight. ( p. 95)
–
Raise the motorcycle with the lift stand. ( p. 49)
–
Remove the front wheel. ( p. 87)
–
Remove the fork legs. ( p. 50)
–
Remove the front fender. ( p. 61)
–
Remove the handlebar cushion.

Open the cable holder in front of the right radiator and detach the wiring har-
ness.
–
Remove screws

and hang the voltage regulator to the side.
–
Remove screw  . Remove screw  . Take off the upper triple clamp with the
handlebar and set it aside.
Info
Cover the components to protect them against damage.
Do not kink the cables and lines.

Remove O-ring

. Remove protective ring


Take off the lower triple clamp with the steering stem.
–
Remove the upper steering head bearing.

Remove screws  and hang the voltage regulator to the side.

Remove screw

. Remove screw

. Take off the upper triple clamp with the
handlebar and set it aside.
