9 Trouble-shooting
WARNING
Improper work to remedy faults
Risk of injury!
▷
For any work performed to remedy faults, observe the relevant information
given in this operating manual and/or in the product literature provided by the
accessories manufacturer.
If problems occur that are not described in the following table, consultation with the
KSB service is required.
A
Pump delivers insufficient flow rate
B
Motor is overloaded
C
Tripping due to excessive motor temperature
D
Increased bearing temperature
E
Leakage at the pump
F
Excessive leakage at the shaft seal
G
Vibrations during pump operation
H
Impermissible temperature increase in the pump
I
Pump set does not start up.

6)
✘

-
-
-
-
- Pump delivers against an excessively high
pressure.
▪
Re-adjust to duty point.
▪
Check system for impurities.
▪
Fit larger impeller.
6)
Increase the speed
(frequency inverter).
✘
-
-
-
-
-
✘ ✘
- Pump and/or piping are not completely
vented or primed.
Vent or prime.
✘
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- Supply line or impeller clogged
Remove deposits in the pump and/or
piping.
✘
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- Formation of air pockets in the piping
▪
Alter piping layout.
▪
Fit a vent valve.
✘
-
-
-
-
-
✘ ✘
- Suction lift is too high/NPSH
Anlage
(positive
suction head) is too low.
▪
Check/alter liquid level (open system).
▪
Increase system pressure (closed
system).
▪
Install pump set at a lower level.
▪
Fully open the shut-off element in the
inlet line.
▪
Change suction/inlet line, if the
friction losses in the suction/inlet line
are too high.
Check any strainers installed/suction
opening.
Observe permissible speed of pressure
fall.
✘
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- Speed too low (operation on a frequency
inverter)
Increase voltage/frequency at the
frequency inverter in the permissible
range.
✘

-
✘
-
- Wear of internal components
Replace worn parts by new ones.
6
Release pump pressure before attempting to remedy faults on parts which are subjected to pressure.
