Reducing the clamping effect
In order to tie a knot, the billhook tongue (1) of the billhook (4) needs at least a low clamping
effect. Therefore, the clamping effect must never be loosened completely via nut (2).
Loosen the nut (2) by approx. 30°.
15.17.3
Setting the twine retainer
BPG000-039
ü
The machine is shut down and safeguarded,
.
ü
.
The function of the twine driver (2) depends on the position of its indentation opposite the twine
disc cleaner (1). In the factory, the twine driver (2) has been preset to dimension
X=0–2 mm
.
If the indentation on the twine driver (2) is positioned too far forward (clockwise), the twine
snagged by the twine driver as it is being guided along by the knotter needle.
If the indentation on the twine driver (2) is positioned too far back (anti-clockwise), the twine
may become entangled in the billhook or may not be snagged by the billhook tongue.
Setting
ü
The indentation of the twine driver (2) is located at the position shown.
Loosen the nut (3) until the nut (3) is flush with the thread end of the auger.
Loosen the auger by means of a slight knock against the nut (3).
Rotate the auger until the dimension is
X=0–2 mm
.
Tighten the nut (3).
Checking
In order to check the correct setting of the indentation, perform at least 2 tying processes,
.
15.17.4
Setting the holding force of the twine retainer
The type and moisture content of crops, its baling density as well as the tying twine that is
selected all require different settings, which have to be determined by trial and error under
actual working conditions. The twine retainer (1) should only clamp the twine securely enough
so that it is not pulled out of the twine retainer mechanism during the tying process. If the
clamping effect is too great, it will tear the twine into shreds.
