Maintenance
6.13 Brake system
6.13.1
Special safety instructions
• Repair work on the brake system must only be carried out by a trained specialist or at
appropriate workshops.
• KRONE accepts no liability under the terms of the guarantee for normal wear, deficiencies
due to overloading or changes to the brake system.
• Carrying out changes to the brake system is not permitted without prior authorisation by
KRONE.
• Irregularities or disruptions in the operation of the brake system must be dealt with
immediately.
• Only feeder wagons with intact brake systems must be used for work in the field or for
travelling on the road.
Brake adjustment
Periodically check wear and function of the brakes and
readjust as necessary.
The brakes must be readjusted if approx. 2/3 of the
maximum cylinder stroke are utilized in case of panic
braking. Jack up the axle for adjustment and secure
against unintentional movements
6.13.2
Adjusting the transmission device
After the first few kilometers travelled, the transmission
device and the brake linings of the brake drum will have
bedded in. The resulting play will have to be compensated
for.
Adjusting the brake linkage
- every 200 operating hours –
Move the brake linkage actuator manually in the direction
of pressure. If a maximum idle stroke of 35 mm is
measured at the cylinder rod, the wheel brake must be
readjusted.
Adjustment can be made at the hexagon of the brake
linkage actuator.
Idle stroke „a“ must be adjusted to a value that
corresponds to 10 - 12% of brake lever length „B“.
Example: If lever length = 150 mm, the idle stroke should
be equal to 15 - 18 mm.
