7 M aintenance and fault recti fi cation
7 . 1 M aintenance
W hen used as directed in normal operation , OPTISWITCH
3000 C is completely maintenance free .
7 . 2 R ectify faults
OPTISWITCH 3000 C o ff ers maximum reliability . N evertheless
faults can occur during operation . T hese may be caused by the
following , e . g .:

P rocess
l
P ower supply
l
S ignal processing
T he fi rst measure to be taken is to check the output signal . I n
many cases , the causes can be determined this way and the
faults recti fi ed .

element is not submerged ( over fi ll protection )

vibrating element is submerged ( dry run protection )

S upply voltage too low

C heck the power supply
l E lectronics defective

P ress the mode switch ( min ./ max .). I f the instrument
then changes the mode , the instrument may be
mechanically damaged . S hould the switching function
in the correct mode still be faulty , return the instrument
for repair .

P ush the mode switch . I f the instrument then does not
change the mode , the oscillator may be defective .
E xchange the oscillator .

C heck if there is buildup on the vibrating element , and if
so , remove it .

U nfavourable installation location
à
M ount the instrument at a location in the vessel where
no dead zones or mounds can form .
à
C heck if the vibrating element is covered by buildup on
the socket .
