Making User Authentication/Account Track
This machine can be set up so that users are allowed to use the following functions after gaining authentica-
tion by entering one of, or more than one in combination of user authentication items (user name and user
password) and account authentication items (account name and account password) specified by the admin-
istrator.
Also, the machine can be set to allow a user to be authenticated simply by holding an IC card over
Authen-
tication Unit (IC Card Type) AU-201
.
This section describes the operation to gain user/account authentication by entering a user/account pass-
word, as well as to gain user authentication by using an IC card.

Authentication Based on User Password/Account Password
This section describes the operation to gain user authentication by entering a user name and password, as
well as to gain account authentication by entering an account name and password.

Users who have been assigned a user name and password may use the machine for the functions and
output within the upper limit specified by the administrator.

Users who have been assigned an account name and account password may use the machine for the
functions and output within the upper limit specified by the administrator.

A user may be required either user authentication or account authentication, or both operations de-
pending on the setting configured by the administrator.

If public users are allowed to use the machine, you can use this machine as a public user by pressing
[Public User] in the upper right area of the authentication screen. The administrator specifies the func-
tions available for public users and the upper limit for output.

Registered user names can be listed if [User List] is displayed on the screen.

Registered account names can be listed if [Account List] is displayed on the screen.

If the reset function is activated, or
Access
on the
control panel
is pressed, it returns to the authenti-
cation screen even if you are working on the screens that require proper credentials.

When the Enhanced Security mode is set ON for the machine, the authentication screen is displayed
every time a user attempts to use the function that requires authentication. In this case, passwords less
than 8 alphanumeric characters/symbols becomes invalid and cannot be authenticated. When you en-
ter a wrong user name or password, you must wait 5 seconds to re-enter it. The [User List] or [Account
List] is no longer displayed.

User names may be up to 64 alphanumeric characters including symbols, user passwords may be up
to 64 alphanumeric characters, and account names and account passwords may be 8 alphanumeric
characters or less.

Enter the user name, user password, account name, and/or account password, as required. One of the
following screens is displayed. Please follow the instructions provided for each screen.

The screen shown below requires a user name and user password.

If [User List] is displayed on the screen, press the key to display the user list. Select the desired key
on the list and press [OK]; the selected user name will be displayed on the right side of [User Name]
on the user authentication screen.
