In order to transmit ("ping") you must set the ST90 system to
Normal
operating mode. This
is the default mode when the ST90 system is turned on.
Context
The
Operation
function controls the operating mode of the ST90 system.
Normal
mode
allows the ST90 system to transmit ("ping") through the water, and to receive the echoes.
Caution
You must never permit the ST90 system to transmit (ping) when the ship is in dry dock.
The transducer may be damaged if it transmits in open air.
Once started, the acoustic transmissions are controlled by the
Transmission Mode
and
TX
Power
functions.
