Selecting hull unit
The MF90 system can be provided with different hull units. The main difference between
these hull units is the length of the transducer shaft, and thus also the physical height of the
entire hull unit assembly. The same transducer is used on all hull unit types.
Context
The hull unit is used to lower the transducer down below the ship’s hull when the MF90
system shall be used. When the MF90 system is turned off, the transducer is hoisted for
protection.
Caution
If the transducer hits larger objects or bottom, the transducer shaft may be bent, or - in
worst case - it can be broken off. A broken transducer shaft will cause water leakage
through the top of the shaft. If you suspect that the transducer shaft is seriously damaged
with holes, do not retract the transducer to its upper position.
To prevent serious damage to the vessel or the vessel stability, you must have a water
pump and a warning system in the sonar room.
Procedure
1 Open the
Setup
menu.
2 On the
Setup
menu, select
Installation
.
Observe that the
Installation
dialog box opens. This dialog box contains a number of
pages selected from the menu on the left side.
3 On the left side of the
Installation
dialog box, select
Hull Unit Configuration
to open
the page.
4 Select which type of hull unit that has been installed.
5 At the bottom of the page, select
Apply
to save your settings.
6 Continue your work in the
Installation
dialog box, or select
OK
to close it.
Further requirements
The choices you make are vital for all operation. You must only make these choices once.
Accidental changes to the hull unit settings may cause damage to your MF90 system.
