Make sure that the trouble

microfilming equipment in
which the film was exposed

Developer temperature
needs adjusting
Adjust the developer temperature (refer to “Adjusting the
developer temperature control”).
Incorrect wash-water
temperature
Adjust the thermostatic mixing valve (refer to “Adjusting
the inlet water temperature”).
Self-threader
separates from the
film
Fingerprints on the
adhesive side of the
splicing tape
Reattach or replace the self-threader (refer to “Operating
the Archive Processor”). Avoid leaving fingerprints on the
adhesive side of the splicing tape.
Adhesive tape is too short
Reattach or replace the self-threader using a minimum of
76 mm (3 in.) of tape (refer to “Operating the
Archive Processor”).
Film quality is poor
Chemicals are exhausted
Change the chemicals.
Developer is contaminated
by system cleaner or fixer
Wash the racks and change the chemicals.
Film stops before it is
tensioned on the
take-up reel.
The time delay of 60
seconds passed before the
film could be tensioned
Train the operator to tension film in less than 60 seconds.
Lift the tension arm or press and release the Mode switch
to the Run position immediately to reset the 60-second
time delay for energy conservation mode (refer to
“Operating the Archive Processor”).
