CARE AND MAINTENANCE

• All maintenance should only be carried out by a qualified service technician.
Cleaning
WARNING
• Before cleaning or performing any maintenance, remove the battery pack. For safe and
proper operation, always keep the tool and its ventilation slots clean.
• Always use only a soft, dry cloth to clean your planer; never use detergent or alcohol.
Replacing the Planer Blades
WARNING
• Before working on the blade: Wear ANSI-approved safety goggles and heavy-duty leather
work gloves.
• This planer can only use the standard straight blades. Never try to install any other blades
on this planer.
To remove the old planer blades:
a. Remove the battery from the tool.
b. Place the planer upside-down on a flat surface.
c. Loosen the three clamping screws
counterclockwise with the wrench (J).
d. Push the blade (M) sideways out of the blade
holder. A piece of wood may be used for this
purpose.
To install planer blades:
a. Remove battery from the tool.
b. Place the planer upside-down on a flat surface.
c. Clean all surfaces before installing the new
blade or reversing the old blade, as this will
ensure an accurate blade setting and proper tool performance.
d. Slide a new, sharp blade between the blade-fixing element and the cutter block. If the old
blade is in good condition, the blade can be flipped and the second edge can be used
instead. The blade groove must engage with the cutter block.
e. Tighten the three clamping screws clockwise with the wrench provided.
NOTE:
This planer accepts blades with the following characteristics: 3.25” reversible, solid
TCT blades. Kobalt #KPLB 124-03 blades are recommended.
