Display Is Blank, Erratic, or Frozen
• If the display comes on when an area is
pushed, Screen Blanking is enabled. See
Advanced (Menu Options) on page 4
• Check for a tripped circuit breaker to the
transformer.
• Carefully remove the FlexStat cover from
the backplate. Check pins and connectors.
Reinstalling the cover on the backplate should
restart the FlexStat if it is supplied adequate
power.
• If the FlexStat has been damaged, check the
phasing of the power and network lines. See

from the transformer and that the transformer
has enough capacity (VA) for all connected
devices. See their respective data sheets
Tips for Connecting 24-Volt Power
NOTE: Wiring must be adequate to avoid
excessive voltage drop on long
runs! Allow plenty of “cushion” in
measurements A meter may be too
slow to register transient dips or
peaks during startup.
• Put the FlexStat on a backplate connected to
a (test) transformer with short wiring, enough
capacity (VA), and no other connected devices.

Cover, Display, and Reset Issues
Cover Binds on Backplate
CAUTION
BAC-19xxxx FlexStats are
NOT COMPATIBLE with the
backplates of older BAC-
10xxx/12xxxx/13xxxx/14xxxx series
FlexStats! If replacing an older
FlexStat, replace the backplate as
well.
• To remove the cover, turn the hex screw in the
bottom of the FlexStat
CLOCKWISE
only until
it clears the cover
. Swing the cover up from
the backplate (mounting base).
CAUTION
To prevent the mounting screw from
causing damage to the case or circuit
board, DO NOT TURN THE SCREW
IN FARTHER THAN NECESSARY to
remove the cover. Using a power
screwdriver on this screw is not
recommended. Also, use only the
mounting screws supplied by KMC
Controls since other types of screws
may damage the FlexStat.
•
Carefully
remove the FlexStat cover from the
backplate and inspect for bent pins and/or
terminal socket connectors. If cover pins are
bent, use a needle-nose pliers to straighten
them. If socket connectors are bent, use
a pointed object (such as a thumbtack or
straightened paperclip) to straighten them.
(Pushing the pointed object into the socket
from the back side might be helpful.)
• Replace the backplate.
NOTE: When installing the cover on the
backplate, be sure to not pinch or
dislodge any wiring. Do not use
excessive force. If there is any
