With the EK15/50 and EK15/50G loosen the locking screws and insert the dies. Especially with the EK15/50 G one
has to observe that the large diameters must be crimped close to the center of rotation, which means deep inside
the throat. Then the trigger (pic. 1, 7) is actuated until the dies contact each other. Now lock the dies with the locking
screws.
Attention
Use safety gear and always wear eye protection.
The crimping cycle is started by actuating the trigger (pic. 1, 7). The crimping cycle is characterized by the closing
motion of the dies. The connector is positioned in the stationary half of the crimping die whereas the moving part of
the crimping die approaches the compression point.
Attention
The crimping process can be interrupted at any moment by releasing the trigger.
By sliding the retract slide (pic. 5, 3) in the direction of the battery the dies can be retracted in case of an error or
emergency.
With the EK15/50 and EK15/50G the connector can
fi
rst be pre-clamped. This allows the operator to adjust the posi-
tion of the connector practically during the crimping cycle. To use that feature push the trigger (pic. 5, 7) until the die
contacts the connector and then release the trigger. The connector can now be re-positioned or even the conductor
can still be inserted into the connector.
The crimping cycle is terminated when the dies are completely closed and the max. crimping force is reached which
is indicated by the auto retraction of the piston.
4.2 Explanation of the application range
Our hydraulic crimping tool EK35/4 has a large number of various dies (pic. 6) available to crimp primarily copper and
aluminium but also other connecting material.
