Notes on refilling gas cylinders
Certain LPG dealers can fill LPG cylinders for use in the barbecue beyond the
capacity of the cylinders. This "overfilling" can lead to a dangerous condition. The
"overfilling" of tanks can cause excess pressure to build up. As a safety device,
the tank's pressure relief valve vents gas vapour to relieve this excess pressure.
This vapour is flammable and can therefore be ignited accidentally. To reduce this
danger, you should take the following safety precautions:
• If you have your gas cylinder filled, be sure to tell the gas dealer that no more
than 80 % of the total capacity of the gas cylinder may be filled.
• If you have or use an extra reserve gas bottle or have an unconnected gas
bottle, never store it near or under the grill or heat box or near any other
source of ignition or heat.
