fresh basil leaves

sauce

margarine or butter

all-purpose flour
1 can (14 oz.) ready-
to-use low-sodium
vegetable broth
Fresh basil, if desired
Position multipurpose blade in work bowl. With
machine running, add garlic to chop, 5 to 10
seconds. Add tomatoes and onion. Process until
finely chopped, about 10 seconds. Add basil leaves.
Process until almost smooth, about 20 seconds.
Pour mixture into large saucepan. Add tomato
sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook over medium heat
about 10 minutes until very hot, stirring
occasionally.
Meanwhile, melt margarine in medium saucepan
over medium heat. Add flour, stirring until smooth.
Gradually stir in broth. Cook until thickened and
bubbly, stirring constantly. Gradually stir sauce into
tomato mixture. Cook 2 minutes, until thoroughly
heated. Garnish soup with sprigs of fresh basil, if
desired. Serve warm or cold.
