Compensating the depth of plunge cut for use with/without a track
4) If you are using your Plunge Cut Track Saw without the optional 50” track (accessory mod. KW-300), turn the track compensation lever (D)
Fig.5 counterclockwise to the upper position as shown to compensate for the lack of thickness of the track.
5) If you are using your Plunge Cut Track Saw with the optional 50” track (accessory mod. KW-300), turn the track compensation lever (D) Fig.5
clockwise to the lower position to compensate for the thickness of the track.
Maximum plunge cut capacity at 90
0
without track: 2-5/16”
Maximum plunge cut capacity at 90
0
with track: 2-1/8”
6) Once your adjustment is made, tighten the plunge depth setting lock knob (A) Fig.5. Make a test plunge to verify your setting before plugging
in your Plunge Cut Track Saw.
Scribe/scoring cuts mode (C) Fig.4.
A scribe cut is normally done before making a final full plunge cut, it also helps to prevent splintering of your workpiece, for clean cuts.
1) Rotate the selector mode to scribe cuts mode (C) Fig.4.
2) Press the plunge action lock/release button (D) Fig.3 and plunge the saw downwards. The saw will only plunge down 0.1” (2.5mm) and will
stop at this plunge depth.

ASSEMBLY
Dust bag- Dust management system
This 6-1/2” Plunge Cut Track Saw comes with a convenient and efficient dust bag
(A) Fig.3. To install the dust bag, position the dust bag adaptor (B) into the dust
chute (C) of the Plunge Cut Track Saw. Then slide dust bag over the other end of
the dust bag adaptor as shown.
If you prefer, you can connect a vacuum hose directly to the dust chute, or the dust
chute adaptor. If using a vacuum for your dust collection, make sure to turn on the
vacuum before starting your plunge cut operation. An optional steep adaptor
(Mod. KVAC-1204) can be purchased to connect a 1-1/4” vacuum fitting to the tool
dust chute (C).
ADJUSTMENTS
Mode selector (3 modes)
This 6-1/2” Plunge Cut Track Saw comes with a mode selector which allows quick
and easy adjustment of 3 common functions, the mode can be selected by simply
rotating the switch (D) Fig.4 to the desired mode.
3 common functions (Refer to Fig.4):
- Blade changing mode (A) Fig.4
- Free plunge action mode (general cuts) (B) Fig.4.
- Scribe cut (0.1”/2.5mm deep) (C) Fig.4.
Blade changing mode (A) Fig.4
Select this mode when you need to change blades.
Free plunge action mode (general cuts) (B) Fig.4.
Select this mode for all general plunge cuts. The depth of plunge cut can
be set between 0” to 2-5/16” (without track) or 0” - 2-1/8” (with track).
IMPORTANT! The depth of plunge cut should be set so that the teeth of the blade
do not protrude past the workpiece by more than 1/8” below the workpiece being
cut. The more the blade protrudes past the workpiece being cut, the greater the
chance of saw kickback, which must be avoided.
Setting the depth of plunge cut
1) Rotate the selector mode lever to Free Plunge Action mode (B) Fig.4 as shown.
2) Make sure the saw is disconnected from the power source.
3) Loosen the plunge depth setting lock knob (A) Fig.5 and move up or down to
the desired depth setting using the indicator arrow (B) and the scale (C) as a
guide.
