ASSEMBLY & OPERATION
MOUNTING YOUR BUFFER TO A STAND, SUPPORT OR WORKBENCH
To avoid serious injury, IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to mount your Buffer to
a stand, support board or workbench before using. If the Buffer is not securely
mounted, it could move or tip over during operations, and possibly causing
damage to your workpiece or buffer and any surrounding items.
This Buffer comes with 2 mounting holes (A) Fig.4 in the base to secure the
Buffer to a solid support or workbench (mounting hardware, support and
workbench are not included).
King Canada offers an optional stand (model SS-150) (B) Fig.4 which can used
for this purpose. Contact your local distributor of King Canada products for more
information.
INSTALLING BUFFING WHEELS
WARNING!
Before you attempt to use this Buffer, read the assembly and
operation instructions first, make sure the power cord is not plugged to a power
source, and that the on/off switch is in the Off position.
1. Install the arbor bushing (A)
Fig.5 by sliding it onto one of arbor shafts.
NOTE: The arbor bushings are required when installing the included 8” x 1/2”
thick polishing wheels, they are not required when mounting several, or thicker
polishing wheels (1-3/8” max thickness). This sets the flange washers and
polishing wheel away from the step in the arbor far enough so that the arbor
nuts can be threaded onto the arbor to secure the wheels in place.
2. Slide the inner flange washer (B) Fig.5 onto the shaft. Make sure the ‘cup’
side is facing towards the threaded end of the shaft.
3. Slide the buffing wheel (C) onto the shaft and butt it against the inner flange
washer.
4. Slide the outer flange washer (D) Fig.5 onto the shaft and butt it against the
buffing wheel. The ‘cup’ side should be facing towards the buffing wheel.
5. Thread the arbor nut (E) Fig.5 onto the shaft to secure the buffing wheel.
Do not hand tighten, but also do not overtighten. Each shaft comes with a flat
(F), position a 13mm open end wrench (not included) on the flat of the shaft
and tighten arbor nut with a 24mm wrench (not included), just enough to
secure the buffing wheel.
NOTE: The left side arbor shaft comes with a left hand thread arbor nut. It is installed by rotating it counterclockwise onto the left side arbor shaft.
The right side arbor shaft comes with a right hand thread arbor nut. It is installed by rotating it clockwise onto the shaft.
6. Install the second buffing wheel following the above procedures.
OPERATION
WARNING! USER
MUST
ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES AND RESPIRATORY PROTECTION!
User must protect himself/herself from
flying residue or compound that can be thrown off from the buffing wheels during buffing and may cause injury.
WARNING!
To avoid serious injury, never buff on the sides, top or rear of the cloth buffing wheels.
