RF Downconverter Section Description
RF Section Assembly Descriptions
A11 RF Switch / High Band Preamp
This assembly has 3 main functions:
— Switch RF input frequencies from 20 Hz to 3.59 GHz directly to the low
band input of the A13 RF Front End assembly.
— Switch RF input frequencies from 3.6 GHz and above to the A12 YTF
Preselector before it goes to the high band input of the A13 RF Front End
assembly.
— High band preamplifier, which has a typical gain of +30 dB and a noise
figure of approximately 9 dB up to 18 GHz, 12 dB up to 30 GHz, and 15 dB
up to 44 GHz.
Control for this assembly comes from the A15 Front End Controller assembly.
There are two different A11 RF Switch / High Band Preamp assemblies used in
the N9038A - one for instruments with Option 503, 508, or 526 and one for
instruments with Option 544.
The connections to and from the A11 RF Switch / High Band Preamp Control
assembly are as listed in Table 6-2 and as illustrated in Figure 6-1 and Figure
6-2 .
