Introduction
SHOCK HAZARD All paralleled units must be connected to ground through a grounded
power cord at all times. Any interruption of the protective (grounding) conductor or
disconnection of the protective earth terminal on any unit will cause a potential shock
hazard that could result in injury or death.
To Prevent Possible Equipment Damage:
l
Connect no more than ten units of identical voltage ratings. All units must have the
same voltage rating but current ratings can be different. All units must have the
same version firmware. Refer to
for the firmware version.

Always turn the AC power on and off together. Never leave any units powered on
while the others are turned off.
Parallel operation lets you connect multiple power supplies together to create a system with higher
total current and power. This applies for current sourcing as well as current sinking operation. In
primary/secondary operation, the paralleled group is controlled through the primary unit, and appears
as a single higher-power supply. The primary unit provides the aggregate of most source and
measurement functions.
Remember to connect the primary/secondary cables and configure the termination switches before
attempting to turn on and discover the secondary units (refer to
for details).
Primary/Secondary Configuration
The configuration procedure for primary/secondary operation is as follows:

Configure one unit as the primary

Configure the other units as secondary units with unique bus addresses
l
Select the connection mode and auto-connect delay time
l
Perform a one-time discovery on the primary - it saves the primary/secondary configuration
