Keyboard Troubleshooting
Use this procedure only if you had keyboard failures in the keyboard self-test
procedure. If any knobs fail, replace the front panel board.

Remove the front panel assembly. (See Chapter 5, “Replacing Assemblies” for
instructions.)

Unclip the front panel board from the keyboard assembly.

Separate the elastomeric keypad from the keyboard assembly.

Visually inspect the keypad, checking for missing black “pills” or contamination
that may prevent proper contact.
• If the elastomeric keypad has any damage, replace it.
• If the elastomeric keypad is not damaged, replace the front panel board.
CAUTION
CONTAMINATION CAN CAUSE INTERMITTENT OPERATION! Be careful not to contaminate the key side
of the PC board or the keypads. Dust and fingerprints on these parts may cause intermittent key
operation.
