Set the IP address to be set automatically
When the TCP/IP configuration mode is set to Automatic, a DHCP server automatically sets the IP
address, subnet mask, and the default gateway. To use this option, a DHCP server must be available
on the network.
The following steps reset the TCP/IP configuration, which also resets the instrument password. This
allows remote access to LXI web page controls that may have been password-protected before the
reset.
To use the LAN RESET switch to select Automatic configuration:
1. Turn on instrument power.
2. Wait for the instrument to complete power up.
3. Insert a straightened paper clip into the recessed LAN RESET switch on the 2606B front panel,
pressing the switch briefly. The LAN status indicator illuminates when the connection is
established.
4. To find the IP address that was automatically applied, use the LXI Discovery Tool, a utility that is
available from the Resources tab of the
Set the LAN configuration to Manual
When you use the manual configuration method with fixed LAN configuration settings, the instrument
IP address, subnet mask, and gateway are set to the following fixed values:

IP address:
192.168.0.2
•
Gateway:
192.168.0.1
•
Subnet mask:
255.255.255.0
You may need to set up a point-to-point connection to use these settings. Refer to
(on page C-5).
The LAN settings persist when the instrument power is turned off and then turned on again.
To use the LAN RESET switch to select manual mode using fixed settings:
1. If the instrument power is on, turn it off. You set the LAN RESET switch as the instrument powers
on.
2. Insert a straightened paper clip into the recessed LAN RESET switch on the 2606B front panel,
pressing and holding the switch while you turn the instrument on.
3. Continue pressing the LAN RESET switch until the CHAN A and CHAN B indicators on the front
panel illuminate briefly.
4. Release the LAN RESET switch. The LAN status indicator flashes twice to confirm the fixed LAN
configuration settings.
5. Connect remotely to the web interface of the instrument by typing
192.168.0.2
into the URL
field of your web browser. When you are connected, the web interface is displayed.
6. In the navigation panel on the left side of the screen, select
IP Configuration
.
7. Select
Modify
. You may be prompted to log in using a password. The default password is
""
(an
empty string).
8. Enter your LAN configuration settings and select
Submit
.
