Installation and safety instructions

The equipment described is designed solely for the installation of satellite receiver systems.

Any other use, or failure to comply with these instructions, will result in voiding of warranty cover.

The equipment may only be installed in dry areas indoors. Do not install on or against highly combusti-

ble materials.

The equipment must be provided with an earthing wire (Cu, at least 4 mm

2

).

The safety regulations set out in the current EN 60728-11 and EN 62368-1 standards must be complied

with.

Fixings: screws, max Ø: 4 mm

Connector: RF connector 75 Ω (series F) in accordance with EN 61169-24.

Risk of damage to property!

An inner cable conductor with a diameter greater

than 1.2 mm, or the presence of burrs may dama-

ge the device inputs/outputs beyond repair.

Max. 2 mm

excess length

Clamping torque

max. 3.4 Nm

(danger of over-

winding)

Diameter

0.6 - 1.2 mm free of burrs

When using the UAS 585 switchable LNB or a multi-switch with a current consumption of more than 40 mA

per subscriber, the EXR 221 must be locally fed using the NCF 18 power supply unit.
The EBC 110 should be used as the splitter. The necessary diode protection is provided by the sockets

ESU 33 and 34.
Particular care should be taken to assign each of the frequencies available at the output from the multi-

switch to only a single receiver, otherwise the receivers will generate mutual interference. The frequencies

are assigned in the receiver’s setting menu. Depending on the type, this assignment may be manual or

automatic.
By defi nition the system is designed so that single-cable devices are supplied with 14 V DC. The power

supply is briefl y switched to 18 V DC if control signals similar to DiSEqC™ have to be transmitted. Continuous

application of 18 V would block the system. For this reason we recommend the use of ESU 33/34 sockets,

which are equipped for switching off  electronically.
The receivers that are connected must be designed for single-cable operation to EN 50494

Problem

Possible cause

Solution

Multi-switch fails to switch No control signal from receiver,

or incorrect control signal

Check that there are no short circuits in the connection

from the receiver to the multi-switch. Check the receiver

menu settings (single cable mode!). Operating voltage

on receiver output should not be greater than 14 V

Multi-switch operates,

but no associated picture

appears

Incorrect input cable frequency Check menu settings of all connected receivers.

Check that frequencies are assigned to one receiver only

Poor signal or no signal

Excessive current consumption Connect an NCF 18 power supply unit
