
OVERVIEW
INTRODUCTION
Please read these instructions fully before using the KANE
-
EGD/RGD.
The KANE
-
EGD/RGD is powered by two AA batteries. Take care to ensure the
batteries are inserted correctly. When replacing batteries please dispose of used
batteries in accordance with local regulations.
The KANE
-
EGD/RGD will enable the operator to pin
-
point small gas leaks, It does
not MEASURE gas levels.
Do not use the KANE
-
EGD/RGD as a personal safety monitor.
Take extreme care when using the KANE
-
EGD/RGD, especially when gas is
detected. If in any doubt, open doors and windows to ventilate rooms under test,
ensure people are not at risk and call the Emergency Service Provider.
THE LEAK DETECTOR OPERATION:
Warm up:
Switch the KANE
-
EGD/RGD ON in fresh air, (press and hold the on/off button).
The tip light will briefly illuminate. The top (red) LED will illuminate and the tic rate
will be once a second.
The LEDs will then cycle for approximately 20 seconds to indicate the warm
-
up.
When the warm up is complete the bottom (green) LED will be illuminated and the
KANE
-
EGD/RGD tic rate will be once every 2 seconds.
Normal operation:
The Green battery status LED will remain illuminated if the batteries have sufficient
power to run the KANE
-
EGD/RGD. If the Green LED is flashing the batteries in the
KANE
-
EGD/RGD must be replaced.
In fresh air the unit will tic once every two seconds.
If gas is detected the tic rate will increase, the Yellow LED
’
s will illuminate.
The Red LED
’
s will illuminate at higher levels of gas and the tic rate will increase to
become almost continuous. Rotate the thumb wheel anti clockwise to reduce the tic
rate, resetting the KANE
-
EGD/RGD to the new background level.
