Lighting the barbecue
!
To light the barbecue proceed as shown (fig.
1. Remove the lid from the barbecue.
2. Ensure the burner control valve is closed by
turning the knob fully clockwise.
3. Open the valve on the regulator of the gas
cylinder.
4. Place a long, lit match through the hole in the
barbecue bowl and hold it close to the burner.
5. Carefully open the burner control valve
halfway.
6. If the burner fails to light, shut off gas supply
and repeat from step 2.
Cooking tips
A
While barbecuing, observe the following cooking
tips:
• Before first use allow the barbecue to preheat for
10 minutes with the lid off.
• During subsequent use, preheat for
5 – 10 minutes.
• Do not use higher setting than required. Keep a
close eye on your food and adjust the burner
control valve if necessary.
• Use the lid to retain heat in the barbecue and to
enhance the barbecue flavor.
Disconnecting from the gas cylinder
Before disconnecting from the gas cylinder,
observe the following instructions:
1. Ensure the barbecue is fully extinguished.
2. Ensure that the burner valve of the barbecue is
in the “OFF” Position (turned fully clockwise).
3. Ensure the regulator connected to the gas
cylinder is in the “OFF” Position (turned fully
clockwise).
4. Ensure all surfaces are cool.
5. Disconnect the gas cylinder as shown (fig.
Cleaning and maintenance
Clean the barbecue after each use:
1. To clean the lava rocks, turn the barbecue on
for 10 minutes.
2. Ensure the barbecue is cold before
continuing.
3. Disconnect the gas cylinder as shown (fig.
4. Grills should be cleaned by soaking and
washing in soapy water. Use a wire brush, steel
wool or a scouring pad to remove stubborn
spots.
5. The surfaces of the barbecue should be
washed with hot soapy water.
6. Periodically check the burner to see it is free of
insects.
7. Clean the venturi tube on the burner very
carefully, checking to see it is free of
obstructions. Use a pipe cleaner to clean the
venturi tube area.
8. Check the condition of the gas hose.
Replace the hose if the material is brittle or
porous.
9. Replace the gas hose when national condi-
tions require it.
Storing
Gas cylinder

Follow the safety instructions (see chapter
“Safety precautions when handling liquid gas”
on page 9).
Barbecue
➤
After cleaning, store the barbecue in a cool, dry,
well ventilated place.
CAUTION! Burn hazard
• Do not lean over the barbecue while
lighting.
• Only use long matches or long-nosed
lighters to light the barbecue.
NOTICE!
Do not use maximum heat with the lid on.
