Power off an XRE200 External Routine Engine before you remove it from a rack or cabinet or in cases
when the XRE200 External Routing Engine is not active and you want to save power.
Powering Off an XRE200 External Routing Engine That Has CLI Access
Before you power off the external Routing Engine:
•
Ensure that you understand how to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage. See
Electrostatic Discharge Damage” on page 163
.
•
Ensure that you do not need to forward traffic through the external Routing Engine.
Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available:
•
An ESD grounding strap
•
An external management device such as a PC
•
A cable to connect the external management device to the console port (labeled (CON) or management
port (labeled MGMT) on the external Routing Engine
To power off an external Routing Engine:
NOTE:
If the EX8200 Virtual Chassis has redundant XRE200 External Routing Engines and you
need both devices powered off, shut down the backup external Routine Engine first.
1. Connect the management device to the external Routing Engine. See either
Management Console Using an RJ-45 Connector” on page 86
or
“Connect a Device to a Network for
Out-of-Band Management” on page 83
.
2. From the external management PC connected to the primary external Routing Engine, issue the request
system halt other-routing-engine operational mode CLI command.
