Take the remaining fabric planes offline by issuing the request chassis fabric plane
5/6/7 offline command—that is, by changing the fabric plane number each time. Verify
that the fabric planes are offline by issuing the command given in Step 2.
6.
Take the SCB-MX in slot 1 offline by issuing the request chassis cb offline slot 1
command.
7.
Verify that SCB-MX is offline:

show chassis environment cb 1
CB 1 status:
State Offline
Power 1 Disabled
Power 2 Disabled

Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect
the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.
9.
Remove and replace the SCB-MX in slot 1 on the router with the SCBE-MX. Use the
replacement procedure described in
“Replacing an MX480 Switch Control Board” on
page 332 .
10.
Verify that the installation is successful and the SCBE-MX is online:
user@host>
show chassis environment cb 1
CB 1 status
State Online
Temperature 30 degrees C / 86 degrees F

Verify that the fabric planes come online correctly:

Verify that the backup Routing Engine is back online:
