Powering Off the AC-Powered MX2000 Router
NOTE:
After powering off a power supply module (PSM), wait at least 60 seconds before turning
it back on.
To power off the router:
1. On the external management device connected to the CB-RE, issue the request system halt
both-routing-engines operational mode command. The command shuts down the Routing Engine
cleanly, so the state information is preserved. If the router contains only one CB-RE, issue the request
system halt command.
user@host>
request system halt both-routing-engines
2. Wait until a message appears on the console confirming that the operating system has halted. For more
information about the command, see the
Junos OS System Basics and Services Command Reference
.
3. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to
one of the ESD points on the chassis.
4. Move the AC power switch on the AC PSM faceplate for each AC PSM to the off (O) position.
